Delegates from Asian Metrocity Summit made a visit to SMART Tunnel on 8 April 2010. Headed by Encik Sophian Ab Rahman, Assistant Director, Corporate Communication Unit of DBKL, a group of 22 delegates were shown a video presentation on SMART Tunnel concepts and operations. Asian Metrocity Summit was jointly organized by Kuala Lumpur (DBKL) and Asian World Summit. The summit aimed to share, educate, inform and advise the relevant parties to introduce and implement the knowledge gained towards building a successful eco-friendly and developed city. In line with the theme, 'Sustainable Development Solutions for Planning and Urbanisation of Cities', the topics included information and communication technology, sustainable development, transportation systems, funding mechanics, green technologies and buildings, and tourism development. SMART has become part of the overall plan for successful disaster mitigation for Kuala Lumpur City Centre.
